Dubbo MTB Club

In 2012 parts of CWORBC have split with some sections making their own separate clubs (CWORBC now focuses on events around Orange).

Dubbo Mountain Bike Club is steaming ahead with many plans and momentum for events run in Dubbo (Mugga Hill), Geurie (Bald Hill) and nearby (Beni State Forest) to name a few.

Check out what's happening at their facebook site.

I'm told they'll have their own website set up soon.

Some of their upcoming events:

  • This Sunday (4th) there's a 1 hour race at Geurie
  • Womens only skills day were having at Geurie on Nov 10 at 10am. Followed by BBQ and bubbly.
  • A women's only social ride in Geurie the Friday night prior (9th)
  • They're about to kick off Wednesday night racing at both Mugga Hill and Beni (alternating) which should be interesting.

Thursday Afternoon Kinross Races

If you haven't been at Kinross forest for the last few Thursday afternoons then you have been missing out. We've had four rounds of 40min races so far with lots of fun being had.

We've been using a 1.7km course but to keep things interesting we'll have a fresh new loop next Thursday and use that for 4 weeks or so. I'm still yet to make a firm decision on the new track.

For more information check out the calendar for details. The calendar entry for this Thursday's race is here

Here's a little snippet of the start of the race from a few weeks ago.

(there's more footage that I'll edit together *again*, youtube editor borked and I lost a couple of hours of editing Sad )

Rydal STM Eight Hour - Race report

We had a strong showing from the club at the 5th round of the Single Track Mind enduro series in Rydal last Sunday (28th Oct).

The 8 hour race was hosted by the great folks of CTMBC, the club based at Lithgow.

We counted at least 15 CWORBC members from Orange attending the race which meant there were Ginja Ninja jerseys ever where.

Some results of note include:

  • Janet Martin and Kate Heynes were first and second respectively in the female solo.
  • Matt Cordery consolidated his series 1st position in the Clydesdale category with another category win.
  • Paul Spencer won the male singlespeed category in his first 8 hour solo race. And if there was an award for best race supporter it would have to go to Elaine who kept Paul well fed and watered.

Thomas Carroll completed his first 8hr solo and did well, though he must have been tired because he chatted a bit less towards the end.

Rob Chew had a few mechanical issues but I'm sure he will be able to weld and bolt something unbreakable for next time (like his roof racks and bike racks of previous vehicles).

Scott Charlton, our honourable club president, may need a little more encouragement next time because he headed home early Eye-wink

And I believe Pat Rourke will be in line for a new bike after testing out a loaner.

I think we all had a great day. It's worth the journey to try tracks that are quite different to those at Kinross. Rydal is an excellent trail for practising your cornering technique. One podium winner commented that at Rydal you have to 'go slow to go faster' so that your corners are smoother and energy is conserved.

Congratulations to everyone and let's see if we can get even more to Rydal next year.

Local Scott 24 hour winner

Janet Martin has come away with great results from the 2012 Scott 24hr race held on 13th and 14th October at Mt Stromlo in Canberra.

The local CWORBC member won the Solo Female 40+ category after completing 19 laps.

She hasn't ruled out doing another 24 hour solo in the future, so she must have enjoyed the ride.

On behalf of the club, well done Janet!

There's a photo below of Janet at some point during the race.

Trail Maintenance This Sunday

Trail maintenance day this Sunday (October 7th), lets get in and give our much loved trails a little TLC, the weather is on the up, the days are getting longer so to enjoy your riding more and give a little back put aside some time this Sunday. You dont need to be there all day, but if you can help anytime between 10-1 (BBQ lunch to follow) that would be great.
If you are interested please bring a useful tool, water, sun protection and find us somewhere on TTT.
The BBQ will be on the top road (between TTT and Goat Track), bring a bike if you fancy a pedal once the digging is done and you are fully fueled with Sausage sandwiches Eye-wink

Today's Dirty Duathlon - Cancelled - 15th July

Yesterday afternoon was looking good with the sun coming out, but this morning is looking pretty ugly so we have cancelled the Dirty Duathlon for today.

The tracks would take a battering but we also want better conditions to make sure we get a good crowd for our organising efforts Eye-wink

We are keen to run it in the future. Stay tuned for a new date.

Tomorrow's race cancelled - June 17

Tomorrow's race has been cancelled due to wet weather. We were hoping the predicted rain wouldn't be too bad, but it is. It wouldn't be much fun and would rip up the tracks.

If it's not too bad tomorrow then we may have an easy social ride at 10am tomorrow anyway (meet at Bulgas Road car park).

New Website

Welcome to our new website! We are busy setting this up at the moment but please bear with us as content is added and the site takes shape.

We have changed the site for a few reasons, but mainly because we have heard global-riders offers great support (at the right price Eye-wink ) for a great service.

Apologies to those who had registered on the old site but you'll have to re-register here to post on the forum etc.

Stay tuned for more.
